Riding a two game winning streak the mighty C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity football crew under the leadership of head football coach Eric Villasenor who are still mathematically alive for a possible post season playoff berth will seek to move one step closer to garner the school and program’s first ever post season gridiron football playoff berth this coming Friday, October 31, 2014 when they host the feisty Laredo Nixon Mustangs who are coming off a 12 to 7 upset of the Laredo Cigarroa Toros this past week in a key 7:30 PM District 29-5A football matchup at the venerable Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass, Texas.

This game has been designated as the C.C. Winn High School’s 2014 Homecoming game with the coronation of the King and Queen and the Royal Court to be held during the halftime festivities.  For the first time in school history the Mavericks have recorded a three game winning streak by defeating the Laredo Nixon Mustangs by the score of 21 to 7 on Max Vallejo’s game clinching 61 yard interception return late in the fourth quarter and also registered the program’s first 4th victory in a single season.  With the victory the Mavericks remain mathematically alive for a potential post season playoff berth!
