This game is designated as Parent’s Night with the Eagles players paying tribute to their respective parent’s during pre-game festivities.

Four turnovers spell doom for Mavs

The much anticipated 13th Annual gridiron matchup between the C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity football team under the direction of head football coach Eric Villasenor and the Eagle Pass Eagles varsity football squad under the direction of head football coach Tom Gonzalez took center stage on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 7:30 PM at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Mavericks and Eagles ventured into this non-district gridiron encounter sporting an identical season record of 2-0 which marked the first time that the Mavericks and Eagles come into this matchup both sporting unblemished season records. An estimated crowd of 6800 was in attendance to witness another historic matchup between the two local high school football programs. In a truly hard fought defensive battle where the team total yardage was nearly identical from both teams the Eagle Pass Eagles took full advantage of four Mavericks costly turnovers plus one head scratching call by the referee as well as the time keeper with no time showing on the first half clock to come away with the 24 to 0 victory over the Mavericks.

Winn Mavericks varsity football team under the direction of head football coach Eric Villasenor and the Eagle Pass Eagles varsity football squad under the direction of head football coach Tom Gonzalez will kick-off on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 7:30 PM in front of what is predicted to be a full capacity crowd. The game’s attendance will be mostly comprised by the famed Mavericks Nation as well as the Loyal Legion of Eagles faithful along with nearly the entire student bodies of both C.C. Winn High School and Eagle Pass High School at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Winn Mavericks’ varsity football squad under the leadership of head football coach Eric Villasenor returned home on Friday, September 7, 2018 to entertain the Uvalde Coyotes in a 7:30 PM non-district gridiron season home opener at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium. This contest was designated as Parent’s night with the Mavericks varsity players honoring their respective parents during pre-game festivities. The home standing Mavericks take a last second thriller over the Uvalde Coyotes in a game that went down to the wire by the final score of 21 to 20. The Mavericks thus improve their overall season record to 2-0.

The mighty Eagle Pass Eagles varsity football team under the tutelage of head football coach Tom Gonzalez ventured out of town for the second consecutive week on Friday, September 7, 2018 with a road trip to San Antonio, Texas to battle with the Southwest Dragons in a 7:30 PM non-district gridiron encounter between last year’s Co-District 29-6A champions. This season the Southwest Dragons have been realigned to compete in District 14-5A Division I. Both the Eagles and Dragons entered this contest with identical 1-0 overall season records. Due to the unplayable conditions at Dragons Stadium this game was moved to the brand new San Antonio Southwest Legacy Titans stadium. The Eagles Pass Eagles were able to take a truly hard fought battle over the Southwest Dragons by the final score of 16 to 14.
