Krystal De La Cruz leads Louisiana Tech

To Conference USA Championship

Former Eagle Pass Lady Eagles standout pitcher Krystal De La Cruz the record setting, most dominant and winningest pitcher in Lady Eagles softball history is continuing her dominance at the collegiate level for the NCAA Division I program Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters as she hurled back to back complete games in leading the Lady Techsters to the prestigious Conference USA championship tournament crown held at Hattiesburg, Mississippi with a 4 to 2 victory over Marshall on six hits with five strikeouts and then coming back with a complete game 1 to 0 two hit with five strikeouts shutout over Florida International in the tournament championship game on Saturday, May 13, 2017.

Sophomore Krystal De La Cruz improves her overall pitching record to an impressive 14-3 mark and propels the Lady Techsters to the NCAA Division I Women’s Softball Regional.  Competing and pitching at a high level NCAA Division I softball program you face nothing but top notch softball programs and certainly do not face opponents that resemble intramural programs or PE classes.

Recently the highly talented Krystal De La Cruz received more honors to ad her outstanding wealth of accomplishments as she was selected the Conference USA Newcomer of Year and was also voted as the First team pitcher in Conference USA and was also selected to the Conference USA Championship Tournament all-tournament squad.

Eagle Pass Sports Central congratulates the young and talented Krystal De La Cruz on your most outstanding achievement in spearheading the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters to the 2017 Conference USA championship title and we thank you for representing the entire community of Eagle Pass, Texas with dignity, pride, and class and for being an excellent role model for all of the youth of our community.  We certainly wish you continued success and the very best of luck at the upcoming Regional Tournament. Way to Go Krystal!

The Sports Czar Up-dates the National League

In the National League, in the East the Nationals have opened up an 8.5 game lead over the Braves.

In the NL Central, the Brewers so far have gotten the best of the defending World Champion Cubs as they own a a 4.5 game lead over the omen breaking Cubbies.  The Cardinals must not be overlooked as they stay perched just 5.5 games behind and on the heels of the boys from Chicago.

In the NL West, the Los Angeles Dodgers continue the rebuilding of the True Blue dynasty of years gone-by.  The Dodgers lead the division by 6.5 games over the Diamondbacks. And for those that still cherish the Dodgers-Giants rivalry, the kids from San Francisco are cellar-dwellers as they sit 26 games behind the division leading Dodgers.

The Pride of C.C. Winn High School

Setting his sights to a potential Professional Golf Career

When it comes to the grand old game of golf, young 17 year old C.C. Winn Mavericks’ varsity golf team member Diego Ibarra is like a fine bottle of wine, he just keeps getting better with age. Introduced to the grand old game at a very young age of eight years old as he truly enjoyed hanging around the local Municipal Golf Corse in Eagle Pass, Texas practically from sun up to sun down listening and learning about the game of golf.  He learned from the abundant local avid die-hard golfers riding along side them in their respective golf carts as well as in the club house which happens to be located about a seven iron shot away from the Rio Grande River and old Mexico in the historic Ft. Duncan area.
