The highly touted Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls’ softball team ventured to Smithson Valley on Friday, February 16,2018 to compete in the high caliber two day Smithson Valley Invitational Softball Tournament. The powerful Eagle Pass Lady Eagles had an outstanding showing at this tournament winning four out of their five games in this prestigious tournament.

The talent laden Lady Eagles made a major statement at this high caliber tournament serving notice that they will be a force to be reckoned with for the District 29-6A title this season. The Lady Eagles got quality pitching inside the circle from their standout pitching duo of the fire balling Kaitlin Galvan and Leenette Krezdorn who were very dominant during the tournament. The potent high scoring Lady Eagles offense was spearheaded by their two to hitters and RBI producers Lorelei Morales and two-sport standout Brooke Diaz who blistered the ball during the entire tournament. Also contributing at the plate were Leslie Martinez, Lee Ann Dunn, Alexandra Martinez, Lee Ann Dunn, Kayla Ochoa, Janessa Garza, Elena De Alba, newcomer Kaylynne Ruiz who belted a two run homerun against Smithson Valley. Teammate Leslie Martinez also connected for a homerun against Smithson Valley. Heather Ruiz and Karina Ruiz also pitched at the plate some. The entire Lady Eagles roster got some experience at the plate, om the base paths and on the field which will be beneficial once the upcoming District 29-6A action gets underway. .
