Mavericks set to tame the
Floresville Tigers

Coming off their big victory over the Harlandale Indians last Friday, the playoff contending C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity football team under the direction of head coach Eric Villasenor resume their District 29-5A gridiron battles this coming Friday, November 3, 2017 when they host the current district co-leading Floresville Tigers in a key 7:30PM encounter at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium. The visiting Floresville Tigers will venture in to this game with an overall season record of 5-3 and an unblemished district mark of 3-0. The home standing C.C. Winn Mavericks with enter this contest sporting and overall season record of 3-5 and a district mark of 2-1.
The visiting Floresville Tigers will employ s very fundamentally sound offensive scheme that showcases their multi-talented sophomore quarterback Darian Mayberry #11 a very mobile quarterback with a good and very accurate arm, who is also a great running threat. Joining him in the back field will be a pair of solid running backs the likes of Salith Williams #6 who has gained 619 yards rushing with 8 TD’s. As well as Kane Numera #21 who has rushed for 659 yards with 3 TD’s. when the Tigers take to the airway they mainly utilize four good receivers with Colton Payne #5 who has 18 receptions for 275 yards, Bradley Perry # 10 who has 18 receptions for 145 yards, Nathan Pollock #20 and Zane Sanchez #8.
Offensively the Mavericks will counter with their big offensive line of Jaime Rodriguez, Miguel Nino, Sebastian Lopez, Erik Del Bosque and Juan Hernandez needing to control the line of scrimmage and sustain their blocks both on running plays as well as provide protection in their passing scheme. Sophomore starting quarterback Ethan Johnston and running backs Fernando Zapata and Luis Rodriguez will handle the potent running attack for the Mavericks who will need to rely on ball control. Ethan Johnston has tallied eight rushing touchdowns in the last five games. When the Mavericks take to the airway they will utilize the services of slot back Jared Roiz, wide receivers Luis Olvera and Jose Blanco as well as tight end Isaac Villarreal.
On the defensive side of the ball the C.C. Winn Mavericks will counter with their patented aggressive, hard hitting defensive unit featuring their defensive line of Ricardo Morales, Alexis Morales, Isaias Gonzalez and Alejandro Ontiveros needing to dominate in the trenches to nullify the Tigers running game. The Mavericks standout pair of bone rattling linebackers of Miguel De Los Santos and Ernesto Villasenor the team’s top two leading tacklers will need to inflict punishing tackles. The Mavericks swift secondary unit of Domingo Duran, Xavier Cerezo, Juan J. Garcia, Brandon Wheeler and Azael Rodriguez will be tested heavily and will need to force some turnovers as well as provide run support on running plays
