After 10 straight road games to start the season, the Eagle Pass Eagles under the leadership of head coach Reynol Mendoza and assistant coaches Henry Silva and Chris Villa finally came home for their first home game of the 2018 Texas High School baseball as to inaugurate their respective District 29-6A season by hosting the perennially tough Laredo Alexander Bulldogs in a 7:30 PM matchup at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Polo Moncada Baseball Field.

This key matchup had an ominous begging as the first two batters of the game drew a base on balls and eventually game around to score on a two RBI double to give the Bulldogs the early 2 to 0 lead in this game, The Bulldogs then padded their lead with a three run output in the top of the third courtesy of a pair of hits and three more base on balls issued by the Eagles pitching staff to take a 5 to over the Eagles.

Radar control problems and timely hitting by the visiting Bulldogs continued to haunt the Eagle Pass Eagles as the Bulldogs tacked on a pair of runs in the top half of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 7 to 0 over the Eagles. The Eagle Pass Eagles finally broke into the scoring column with a lone run in the bottom of the fourth with pinch hitter Alex Luna reaching base on an error and later came around to score on another fielding error by the Bulldogs. In the bottom half of the fifth inning the Eagles plated another lone run on a single by Dee Andre Torres a ground out a single by Isaac Roque and an RBI single by Isaac Gonzalez to drive in Dee Andre Torres.

The Eagles then narrowed their deficit with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth with pinch hitter David Lopez drawing a walk, with one out Rey Rey Mendoza belted an RBI double to bring home David Lopez, with two outs Braulio Rodriguez connected with an RBI single to drive in Rey Rey Mendoza but that proved to be all of the damage would muster in this game as the Laredo Alexander Bulldogs added an insurance run in the top of the seventh to “walk” away with an 8 to 4 victory over the Eagles as the Bulldogs feasted on the whopping 11 base on balls issued in this game by the Eagles pitching staff. The loss drops the Eagles overall season record to 3-8and 0-1 in district play.
