Lady Eagles run rule past

United South11 to 1

The playoff contending Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity softball team currently perched in a tie for third place in the district race with an overall season record of 12-6 and a district mark of 6-4 returned to their diamond battles on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 to host the Laredo United South Lady Panthers in a 7:00 PM District 29-6A softball diamond matchup at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center softball field.

The home standing Lady Eagles supported by the ever present Legion of Lady Eagles followers took the lead for good in this contest in the bottom half of the first inning with a six run uprising. With one out Brooke Diaz was hit by a pitch and replaced o the base paths by courtesy runner Paola Daniel, Alexandra Martinez was also hit by a pitch, after both runners advanced on steals, Paola Daniel came home on a wild pitch, Alexandra Martinez would later score on an error, with two outs, Leslie Martinez and Kaylynne Ruiz drew back to back walks, Lashay Reyes belted a two RBI single to drive in Leslie Martinez and Kaylyne Ruiz, Karina Ruiz followed with a single, Kayla Ochoa came through with a clutch two RBI single to bring home Lashay Reyes and Karina Ruiz to give the Lady Eagles a 6 to0 lead over the Lady Panthers.

In the bottom of the second the Lady Eagles erupted with a five run output with Alexandra Martinez leading off the frame with a single, with one out Leslie Martinez stroked an RBI double to drive in Alexandra Martinez, Kaylynne Ruiz connected with an RBI double to bring home Leslie Martinez, Lashay Reyes followed with the third consecutive double of the frame to tally Kaylynne Ruiz, with one out Kayla Ochoa belted an RBI single to drive in Lashay Reyes, Heather Ruiz connected with an RBI double to bring home Kayla Ochoa giving the Lady Eagles a comfortable 11 to 0 lead in this game.

That lead proved to be more than enough for the Lady Eagles as their entire pitching staff saw action inside the circle with starting hurler Kaitlin Galvan and relievers Leenette Krezdorn and Alyssa Galvan held the Lady Panthers to a single run which they tallied in the top of the fifth to avert a potential shout and combined their pitching talent to scatter only four base hits on the night as the Lady Eagles brought an early conclusion to this game via the 10-run rule with their 11 to1 victory over the Laredo United South Lady Panthers to improve their district record to 7-4 and remained tied for third place in the district race.
