Eagle Pass Sports Central is proud to announce that Mr. Jack Stallard Sports Editor for the Longview News-Journal and member of the Texas Sports Writer’s Association has informed us that the highly talented power and clutch hitting Lady Eagles’ varsity softball catcher Brooke Diaz was selected to the elite 2018 Texas Sports Writer’s Association All-State softball honorable mention team.

This past season Brooke Diaz, the daughter of Brandon and Samantha Diaz, was one of the most feared hitters in District 29-6A but as well as in the entire Region IV, had a truly banner year. She was the bonafide leader of the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity softball program, where she led the team in the hitting department in several categories including batting average with a hefty .480 mark, a team and district leading 39 RBI’s, a team leading .568 on base percentage and a team high homeruns with 4, base hits with 48. She was the best clutch hitter on the team and remarkably only struck out once the entire season. Brooke Diaz was selected to the 2018 District 29-6A all-district first team and also garnered a berth on the prestigious all academic squad.

The highly talented Brooke Diaz, who has verbally committed to continue her academic and athletic career at the NCAA Division I Louisiana Tech University, will return for her senior year at Eagle Pass High School to wreck havoc once again on the diamond both at the plate and behind the plate in the tough District 29-6A.

Brooke’s three year total stats are simply phenomenal with a .425 batting average, 88 base bits, 77 RBI’s, 44 runs scored, belted 5 homeruns and has an on base percentage of .502. She truly is the consummate team player doing whatever it takes for the benefit of the tea, both offensively and defensively at the plate, on the base paths and behind the plate.

Eagle Pass Sports Central congratulates the young standout Brooke Diaz on your most deserving honor in being selected to the 2018 Texas Sports Writer’s Association All State softball honorable mention team and wish you continued success and thank you for representing the City of Eagle Pass, Texas and Eagle Pass High School with pride, dignity and class and for being a true role model for all of the youth of our community.
